The first day of this exciting dance festival features the lively and stunning Tibetan Ral-pa dance, the dance of the wanderers that combines recitation and acrobatics, performed by graduates of the Tibetan Institute of the Performing Arts in Dharamsala; graceful folk dances which evoke the daily life of the people from Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost archipelago, performed by acclaimed Okinawan-born and Tokyo-trained dancer Junko Fisher and company; and soulful flamenco with the ensemble of Sol La Argentinita, who over the past decade has established herself as one of the top flamenco dancers/choreographers in New York.
