2022/2023 - A GREAT SEASON!
Our 2022/23 season has come to an end. We ended with a flourish - an amazing concert of Afro-Cuban/Senegalese music featuring pianist Omar Sosa & kora player Seckou Keita with Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles.
We opened in September 2022 with flamenco guitarist Antonio Rey, an Afghani/North Indian duet featuring rubab maestro Homayoun Sakhi and sitarist Josh Feinberg, and an evening of Argentine tango with the superb Guillermina Quiroga with the Pedro Guiraudo Tango Quartet. The fall concerts ended with a concert of Persian music featuring Iranian vocalist Mojgan Shajarian, percussionist Pejman Hadadi and santour player Sourena Sefati, and Maqam Mosaics with Iraqi-born violinist Layth Sidiq. Spring 2023 saw a return visit of Palestinian vocalist Nibal Malshi, the New York premiere of flamenco guitar maestro Rafael Riqueni, Korean virtuoso oboist/flutist gamin, Mali's Ngoni Ba featuring Bassekou Kouyate and vocalist Amy Sacko, and a solo Persian tar performance by the superb Sahba Motallebi.
Five of the spring concerts are now viewable on Youtube:
