PAOLO ANGELI
Guitar and Vocals
Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street & 7th Avenue, NYC
From the island of Sardinia, Paolo Angeli draws on the folk heritage of his homeland, adding elements of jazz, early music, and other genres to create an intriguing sound that is hard to categorize. His instrument, a prepared guitar with multiple strings and pedal-controlled effects, becomes a veritable orchestra.
“Sardinia's madly imaginative master of the guitar…veers, in dreamy and almost stream-of-consciousness kind of way, between the traditional music of his island homeland, improvisational jazz and punk with a palette of super-saturated colors and amazing textures.” – NPR Tickets: $48, $38 |
