The soulful Roopa Panesar is a rising young sitar star in the UK’s Indian music scene. Noted for her distinctive style, she began her training at the age of seven with sitar maestro Ustd Sharambir Singh. She later learned from such great maestros as Pandit Arvind Parikh, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Ustad Siraj Khan and Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty. She has toured Europe and the US to critical acclaim, recorded music for the soundtrack of the film, West is West, appeared with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and released her acclaimed debut album Khoj. She will be accompanied on tabla by Gurdain Rayatt, a prominent disciple of Pt. Shankar Ghosh.
