The commanding sitarist Anupama Bhagwat is one of the leading disciples of the world-renowned Pt. Bimalendu Mukherjee, exponent of the famous Imdadkhani gharana, which is admired for its fluency and grace. She has imbibed the vigor that is a hallmark of her tradition: scintillating fast taans, soulfulness of the meditative alap and brilliant fluency of melody (raag bhava). Under her Guruji’s inspiring guidance, she has mastered the gayaki (vocal) style, while bringing out its lyrical beauty with the emotive cadences of the sitar. Accompaniment by Nitin Mitta on tabla.
